Policy on advertising support

In an effort to support the statement that the creator and staff of Wildstar Press provide this service not primarily to make money, but to provide a place for authors and readers to interface we would like to anticipate a few questions and disclose any revenue practices we might have.

1. How is Wildstar Press supported, and why do some of these sites have the Editor's name on them?

Answer: The primary piece of support comes from smartstart, the service that provides webspace and webhosting to Wildstar Press. In exchange, smartstart places advertising banners on the site. There is at least one smartstart banner across every page in the site. The secondary piece of Wildstar Press's "support" is the Donate button from Paypal. This is new. We hope users who appreciate the site and would like to see it continue will contribute. However it is not required. We appreciate your visiting and contributing your creativity to Wildstar Press

2. Are you guys raking in the money with this Donate Button? If not why have it? If so where will the money go?

Answer: This is a relatively new feature and we do not anticipate much revenue from this feature. Our goal is to be a free resource and forum for creativity. As such we're not interested in convincing lots of people to part with their hard earned money. We are, however, a completely volunteer site. Economic problems, illness, family and other issues prevent this site from reaching its full potential. Donations would allow us to compensate our volunteers (who pay for operating costs out of pocket), get our own domain and hosting, expand services etc.
Regardless of whether Wildstar Press makes money through its advertisers, it will continue to exist barring unforseen and extreme circumstances. However, revenue generated by these programs could help us extend our services, better our site, and get authors work out to a wider audience.

3. How will donating affect my chance of my work getting accepted?

Answer: It won't. We want it to be absolutely clear, donating will not garauntee acceptance of submitted work. In fact, donations will not affect our decisions at all. While we want to thank each donor individually, we prefer donations to be anonymous as possible.
